Hybrids

Of course, hybrids are to be found in this variable genus as well - more than one might think actually:

For many species intermediate forms or easy-to-spot natural hybrids can be observed. Unfortunately, there has been no review on the variability and the hybridization potential of Aristolochia species in situ.

Many misidentifications and even some new species' descriptions may in fact represent natural hybrids.

However, without DNA/cladistic analyses this cannot be verified conclusively in several extreme cases /e.g species' complexes.

Here I will present both natural hybrid specimens as well as more or less deliberately generated ones. Enjoy!

To provide an easy overview the names below are assigned to their respective hybrid origin and linked with the subpages of the scroll-down menu on the right.
