about me

I'm Dominik Frank from Germany, enthusiastic and interested in everything related with Aristolochia of which I have been growing plenty of species during the last decade.

My personal area of interest focuses on the pollination biology and germination processes. Aristolochia seem to have evolved some very specialized mechanisms in order to manage their survival although often being much less competitive or even out-competed in distracted/outbalanced habitats. Deriving from research and personal observations I am working primarily on propagation methods how to make some of these wonderful plants more common in cultivation.

Especially methods for propagation via seeds are lacking and almost all non-tropical species seem to require different complex treatments to enhance or even activate the germination process at all.

I love to share and exchange knowledge on these fascinating plants with everyone interested. Many species are poorly known yet so I am always trying to learn more ...
