Aristolochia shimadae is one of the few species of Taiwanese Aristolochia occasionally found available in nurseries.
Pretty intiguing is the leaf variability of this species: Even within a single plant, the foliage may vary to a great extent depending on the season, sun exposure, drought, water availability and substrate. Almost every shape from lanceolate-cordate to nearly triangular can be produced, hence often leaves at the base (spring) look very different to those produced in summer and autumn!
